Our stay at Hotel Sanraku in Kanazawa was one of the most pleasant of our trip to Japan. The hotel is calm and elegant, with beautiful architecture and peaceful gardens on the ground floor that immediately set the tone.
The rooms are thoughtfully decorated, very clean, and comfortable. After spending our days exploring the city, it was the perfect space to relax. Everything felt intentional, from the lighting to the choice of materials. The service was another highlight. The staff was kind, professional, and genuinely helpful. One detail that stood out was how they assisted us in shipping our luggage to our next hotel. It was a small thing, but it made our travel experience much smoother.
Breakfast deserves a special mention. The buffet included both Japanese and Western options, all fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented. It was generous without being overwhelming and easily became the best breakfast we had during our entire time in Japan. The location is also excellent. From the hotel, we walked to most of the major sites, including Kenrokuen Garden, Kanazawa Castle, the 21st Century Museum, and the Higashi Chaya District. Everything felt close by, yet the hotel remained quiet and peaceful.
Hotel Sanraku is officially a five-star hotel. It currently holds a 9.2 rating on Booking.com and 4.5 stars on Google, which we found to be fully deserved. When we stayed in October 2024, the rate was 250 CAD per night. As of 2025, prices range between 130 and 350 CAD depending on the season.
For anyone visiting Kanazawa who values five-star comfort at a fair price, Hotel Sanraku is a fantastic option in Kanazawa and definitely Alison approved!
