Discovering the Magic of Azulik in the Jungle of Tulum

Apr. 05, 2025 / Mexico

Alison

Tulum is full of magical places, but Azulik in the jungle stands in a category of its own. While most people think of the famous beachfront Azulik—a luxurious eco-resort that pops up all over Instagram—I haven’t visited that one yet. Instead, I want to talk about the Azulik tucked away in the jungle, a quieter, more mysterious space that feels like stepping into a dream.

A Place That Invites You to Slow Down

Azulik isn’t just a museum. It’s a sculptural world made from wood, light, and shadows. Every curve and walkway feels alive, designed to highlight the surrounding jungle. The architecture alone is worth the trip: curving wooden walkways that snake around like organic sculptures, natural materials woven into every detail, and soft lighting honor the forest rather than overpower it. This place asks you to move slowly, to take it in fully. Nothing here is rushed, and neither should you be.

Before entering, the staff will ask you to remove your shoes. This simple step sets the tone. You feel the natural textures under your feet. You become part of the space rather than just a visitor.

Getting to azulik

Azulik sits deep in the jungle, far from the main streets of Tulum. You’ll need a car or a taxi to reach it. If you choose a taxi, it’s smart to ask the driver to wait while you visit. Because of its remote location, calling another cab afterward could take quite a while.

The Cost and the Experience

Tickets range from around $20 to $40 USD, depending on the time of year and current exhibitions. It’s not a budget stop, but the visual and sensory experience makes it worth the price. The design alone leaves a lasting impression.

The Restaurant

At the bottom of the museum, there’s a restaurant that looks just as stunning as the rest of the space. I haven’t eaten there yet, but it’s high on my list. From what I’ve seen and heard, the atmosphere matches the otherworldly beauty of the museum itself, and I imagine the food is an extension of that experience. If you’ve been, I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts.

Azulik in the jungle isn’t just a place you visit. It’s a space you feel, absorb, and carry with you. If you’re looking for a unique and visually breathtaking experience in Tulum, this should be at the top of your list. Just don’t forget: take your time, go slow, and explore.
